 State Farm is excited to offer a Litigation In-House Counsel opportunity within the Litigation Division of our Corporate Law Department at our corporate headquarters in Bloomington, Illinois.  The ideal candidate for this role will have 7-12+ years of relevant experience. Individuals in this position will take on advanced responsibilities, including supervising litigation and formulating strategies for complex cases, which may include class actions. 
 The role is classified as hybrid, requiring a balance of in-office and virtual work, with the expectation that the majority of time will be spent in the office in Bloomington, Illinois. Work arrangements may evolve based on business needs. 
 Responsibilities 
 The primary focus of this role is to supervise litigation and manage discovery issues in cases involving State Farm entities. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: 
 
 Collaborate with outside counsel to develop litigation strategies for bad faith, class action, and various other litigation types. 
 Assist in trial preparation and prepare company witnesses and corporate representatives for depositions and testimony. 
 Attend trials and provide trial reports to relevant business units, Law Department management, and colleagues. 
 Develop and manage budgets for litigation matters and related projects. 
 Provide legal advice to representatives of the State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company and its affiliates. 
 Analyze legal problems and interpret laws and regulations. 
 Approach legal matters and litigation resolution with creative solutions. 
 Serve as a resource for the organization on complex legal issues. 
 Respond to written discovery requests (interrogatories, document requests, and requests for admission) in state and federal court litigation. 
 Prepare and execute discovery strategies and manage discovery processes and procedures. 
 Advise on meet and confer strategies and discovery disputes, driving strategy on related motions. 
 Review dispositive pleadings and other legal briefs prepared by outside counsel. 
 Assist in identifying a bench of outside counsel across jurisdictions in the United States. 
 Collaborate with other areas within the Corporate Law Department to effectively manage legal risk. 
 
 Qualifications 
 
 Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school and excellent academic credentials 
 Active law license to practice law in at least one state and a member in good standing of the bar with an ability to obtain a limited license in IL if not already appropriately licensed in IL 
 Attorney with 7-12+ years of litigation experience 
 Jury trial and significant deposition experience 
 Advanced knowledge of legal principles and practices related to litigation 
 Leadership, management, and collaboration skills 
 Experience with class actions, MDLs, and/or insurance bad faith strongly preferred 
 Experience with eDiscovery issues 
 Proactive and creative mindset that anticipates and responds effectively to client&#8217;s needs and actively assists clients by practicing preventative law 
 Commitment to providing quality legal advice, learning agility (including demonstrated willingness to develop expertise in new subject matters), and a history of enthusiastic participation in a team environment

 Additional Details: 
 
 Other than as authorized by the General Counsel or her designee, employees are not permitted to handle any legal business outside of State Farm except authorized pro bono work 
 Newly hired employees must cease all outside practice and all suit involvement before joining State Farm 
 Travel may be required to attend trial in person as well as other litigation-related events or activities 
 May work irregular hours due to workload and nature of work

 Potential starting salary range: $166,000-$200,000

 Position Summary 
 The Parking Spot&#8217;s Legal Department is responsible for handling day-to-day legal matters for the Company including contract drafting/review/negotiations, corporate controls and procedures, corporate governance and compliance, dispute resolution, insurance claim management, litigation, and mergers and acquisitions. The Commercial Counsel works closely with each department and is responsible for transactional and commercial legal matters relating to the operation of the Company and acts as a key legal advisor on corporate and jurisdictional legal issues affecting national parking organization including owning, managing, leasing, and operating The Parking Spot&#8217;s national facilities. 
 This role reports to the General Counsel and Chief Regulatory Officer. 
 Key Responsibilities 
 
 Negotiate and implement complex legal agreements including: Sales Agreements; Asset Management Agreements; Information Technology Agreements; Marketing Agreements; Master Service Agreements and Statements of Work; and Construction Agreements. 
 Lead and optimize the contract lifecycle management process, including template maintenance, approval workflows, obligation tracking and process automation. 
 Support implementation, configuration and continuous improvement of CLM tools/systems. 
 Develop and refine contract templates, playbooks and negotiation guidelines. 
 Conduct training sessions for business teams on contracting best practices, processes and tool usage. 
 Negotiate and implement commercial leasing agreements. 
 Advise on legal rights and obligations relating to all Company legal agreements. 
 Advise on environmental issues related to real estate. 
 Advise on zoning and land use issues related to real estate. 
 Assist in Mergers and Acquisitions related transactions and related diligence. 
 Develops and owns execution of role-specific department critical initiatives. 
 Independently and consistently delivers top-quality work product on highly sophisticated and diverse tasks. 
 Negotiate, draft, and review a wide variety of complex commercial agreements, permits and licenses. 
 Supervise outside counsel&#8217;s work in support of transactional matters. 
 Supporting strategic projects and other tasks or responsibilities assigned by the General Counsel and Associate General Counsel. 
 
 Knowledge, Skills &#38; Experience Required 
 
 Bar admission in any jurisdiction with good standing. 
 Minimum 3 years general corporate and transactional experience at a law firm and/or in-house legal department. 
 Experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements while shepherding those agreements through the deal lifecycle, provide business-focused legal advice on federal and state laws and ensure the requisite internal policies and procedures are followed. 
 Experience drafting and negotiating commercial real estate transactions and advising on real estate legal issues including land use and environmental compliance and obligations. 
 Exposure to corporate governance compliance and procedures. 
 Demonstrated ability to independently manage a diverse and complex workload while maintaining priorities and proactively anticipating issues. 
 Experience working independently and cross-functionally. 
 Experience prioritizing work and proven record of business acumen and solution orientation.

The staff attorney/Full DOJ Rep will work with CLS team members at centralized legal services workshops as well as on clients represented by the team . The staff attorney/Full DOJ rep will maintain their own caseload. 
 Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities 
 Case Management and Data Collection Responsibilities: 
 
 Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and 
 Actively participate in case review and other meetings needed to effectively provide excellent quality service to all clients.

 Direct Legal Services:
