OVERVIEW Performs complex accounting assignments and prepares accounting statements and financial reports, clerical, and other duties as assigned. Reports to Director of Administration.
SALARY AND BENEFITS Salary is commensurate with non-profit public interest work, skills and experience considered. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Prepares reconciliations, internal and external financial reports, budget and budget analysis and various accounting statements. 2. Assists the NSBA with maintenance of its membership management system (data entry) and integration into general ledger, and processing of association dues. 3. Prepares and submits grant reports and tracks related expenditures. 4. Monitors and reviews expenditures for allowability, allocability and reasonableness to ensure compliance with grant requirements. 5. Ensures transactions are completed in a timely and accurate manner and in compliance with all applicable company regulations, policies, and guidelines. 6. Posts journal entries to general ledger. 7. Proofs accounting reports for accuracy. 8. Prepares sales tax filings. 9. Backs up accounting associate position (includes cash, accounts payable and receivable) and other departments including receptionist. Perform accounting functions at, and for association events. 10. Position may occasionally require travel and/or overtime, evenings, and weekends (e.g., Annual Meeting and NSBA events). 11. Other duties as assigned.
o Proficient in Quickbooks online accounting software o Proficient in MS Office (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel-advanced level, data analysis using advanced functions) o Experience with customer/client management software
• Must be willing and able to learn new tasks, acquire new skills, and creatively approach problem solving. • The ideal candidate has a strong attention to detail, is an analytical thinker, has good problem-solving skills, good verbal communication skills, demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, is organized and able to handle multiple tasks.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK Normal days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hybrid and flexible schedules available.
