Overview: The Senior Director, Assistant General Counsel will provide counsel, legal support and oversight on the Company’s real estate matters, mergers and acquisitions, sale/leaseback transactions and greenfield developments. This role reports directly to the General Counsel and performs other general corporate and contract management work as requested.  Additionally, he or she will also be responsible for the leadership and management of two attorneys and five paralegals. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in handling a variety of real estate transactions. The position requires substantial knowledge of and prior experience with drafting all documents related to the real estate acquisition and leasing process, the due diligence process including title/survey review and environmental review. Candidates must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the land development and closing process. Candidates should also have substantial experience in the legal drafting, review and negotiation of all documentation for M&A and sale/leaseback transactions balancing strategic business initiatives and risk management. The candidate works directly with the Vice President of Real Estate and the Vice President of Construction Development on all Greenfield Development projects and works directly with the Vice President of Acquisitions on all M&A transactions to provide business advice on transaction structures and implementation. The candidate engages and manages outside counsel as needed. The candidate oversees the response associated with all other general real estate issues that may arise.

Experience: 15+ years’ experience focused on real estate law with a private law firm or in-house legal department.

Location: Tucson, Arizona.
