Overview: Reporting to the General Counsel, the Assistant General Counsel serves as the lead in-house attorney over all non-litigation matters that are related to labor, employment and general human resources. This attorney will also oversee related matters such as contract management, immigration, employee compensation/benefits and ERISA compliance. In supporting the Human Resources Department, this attorney will provide general advice and counsel on a variety of matters from California wage and hour issues to proposed employment actions (informal counseling through termination).

Experience: Candidates will have 5-7+ years’ experience with labor/employment and benefits related matters, preferably with some experience in a corporate law department. At least two years’ experience negotiating and drafting contracts, preferably related to healthcare operations. Experience representing health care clients is preferred.
Compensation: $200K - $225K + 10% bonus annually
Location: Rancho Mirage, CA.
JD degree from an ABA accredited law school.
Must be a member in good standing of the State Bar of California.
5-7+ years’ experience with labor/employment and benefits related matters, preferably with some experience in a corporate law department. At least two years’ experience negotiating and drafting contracts, preferably related to healthcare operations.
Experience representing health care clients is preferred.
Expert knowledge of California and Federal labor and employment laws.
Extensive experience advising corporate human resources department leaders on a wide variety of labor, employment, human resources, immigration, benefits, ERISA and other related matters.
Expert knowledge of California wage and hour laws including the application of these laws to corporate payroll operations.
Experience representing and advising corporate clients on labor matters, especially focusing on strategies to address organizing activities.
Experience with reviewing, drafting, negotiating and assessing risks associated with contracts, preferably in the healthcare industry.
Experience with physician or other licensed professional employment, such as by a professional corporation is a plus.
Understanding of contractual issues related to healthcare including Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute and standards for exempt organizations is a plus.
Knowledge of liability and insurance issues related to contractual relationships is a plus.
Experience using electronic data systems to administer and oversee an electronic contract review, approval and management/storage process is a plus.
Knowledge of California and Federal Law related to relationships between physicians and hospitals is a plus.
Familiarity with HIPAA and related laws to ensure all agreements comply with those requirements is a plus.
Ability to triage, prioritize and manage multiple tasks and assignments.
