Pillsbury’s Tax Business Unit seeks an Associate with 3 to 7 years of experience to join its Executive Compensation & Benefits Practice Group to be based in the Austin, Los Angeles, New York, San Diego, San Francisco, or Silicon Valley office.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with public and private employers, including start-up companies, on all aspects of the executive compensation and benefits practice, with particular emphasis on mergers and acquisitions (including Section 280G analysis), financings, initial public offerings, executive terminations and hires, stock compensation plans and award agreements, nonqualified deferred compensation (Section 409A), general ERISA and group benefit plans, and public company reporting and disclosure obligations.
The successful candidate will be a high-performing mid to senior level associate who possesses sound judgment, excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to inspire confidence, and the drive to produce high quality work and achieve outstanding results.
Responsibilities include:
Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment working with attorneys locally and firmwide to provide the highest level of client service.
Committed to working extended hours as needed to meet project deadlines and business requirements. Flexibility and dedication to accomplishing tasks in a timely manner are essential for success in this role.
Interact directly with firm clients on a wide variety of highly sophisticated transactions and communicate orally and in writing.
Willingness to share experience and skill set and serve as a mentor to junior associates.

Qualifications include:
Bachelor's degree and JD, or foreign equivalent. Will accept LLM in lieu of JD degree.
Previous or current employment with an Am Law 100 firm.
Excellent academic performance.
Outstanding analytical, research, and writing skills.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
Knowledge of ethics and conduct codes which are a requirement for the practice of the law.
Admitted and in good standing as a member of the bar(s) in the jurisdiction(s) in which you will be practicing.
