About the Innovation Legal Group: The Innovation Legal Group (“ILG”) is part of the larger GLCR organization, is looking for a Junior Attorney to join its team tasked with researching and tracking legal and regulatory requirements for a wide variety of emerging technologies, innovation, automation, digitization and data projects, programs, and matters. ILG is a supportive and hard-working legal team that prides itself on a creative, can-do approach. ILG is sought after for its advice and input on a wide range of emerging technology, automation, and digitization programs in support of AIG’s global operational, digital and technology organizations.
About the Role: The Innovation Legal Group is seeking an attorney to join as its newest Assistant General Counsel. The Assistant General Counsel will support complex matters that are time-sensitive and key to AIG’s strategic initiatives.
Duties: This position reports to the Chief Innovation Legal Counsel. Specific duties will include:
Conducting legal research, regulatory tracking, and legal due diligence on emerging technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain/Digital Assets, and Internet of Things, as well as other issues important to automation and digitization.
Providing transactional support for matters involving emerging technologies, automation, and digitization.
Collaborating with AIG attorneys specializing in privacy, intellectual property, cybersecurity, IT transactions, and insurance law to provide seamless, high-quality service to our internal business clients.
Advising internal business clients on legal issues related to emerging technologies, innovation, automation, and digitization.
Assisting in development of training and presentations on relevant legal issues to various stakeholders throughout the organization.
Supporting more senior members of ILG in all of the above, including preparation of legal memoranda, presentations and other relevant documents.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Juris Doctor; U.S. state bar admission required.
2 years of experience preferred as a practicing attorney with a law firm and/or in-house.
Experience performing thorough and in-depth legal research within aggressive timeframes.
Familiarity with emerging technologies, data science, cybersecurity, information security, data privacy and protection, and data management.
Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Ability to work collaboratively with peers and internal business clients across a global organization.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and legal research skills.
Collaborative, tactful, and persuasive written and verbal communication style.
Experience in the financial/investment services or technology industries is a plus.
Location: This position will be located in AIG’s New York City offices
