Position: The University of Michigan (U-M) Office of the Vice President and General Counsel (OGC) represents U-M’s Ann Arbor, Dearborn, and Flint campuses and Michigan Medicine. OGC is seeking an outstanding attorney to help our clients flourish and fulfill their educational, research, patient care, and entrepreneurial missions while complying with the myriad legal and policy requirements applicable to public research universities. This attorney will be based in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Experience: The successful candidate should have ideally three (3) to six (6) years of legal experience, with substantive experience as a transactional or business law attorney. The University will give serious consideration to extraordinary, analytically gifted candidates who have a demonstrated ability and desire to learn new, complicated areas of law and policy; though experience in one or more of the following substantive areas is highly desired for the successful candidate: 1) bankruptcy law, 2) environmental law, 3) contract drafting and negotiation, 4) data privacy and protection, 5) financing/investment transactions, 5) immigration law, 6) international law and collaboration, and 7) utilities law.  A demonstrated commitment to the mission of higher education and public research institutions is also considered a clear advantage.
