ROLE SUMMARY
The Environmental & Sustainability Law group is seeking a Senior Corporate Counsel to provide strategic management and legal counsel for significant EHS and sustainability matters. This role requires sophisticated regulatory subject matter expertise and the ability to provide time sensitive, proactive, and independent counseling. In this global role, the Sr. Corp. Counsel will support a portfolio of complex manufacturing facilities and business units and will provide timely, business sensitive legal advice on environmental, health, safety and sustainability matters including regulatory compliance, permitting, enforcement defense, and transactions. The Sr. Corporate Counsel will provide legal support on Global EHS standards (Pfizer’s global EHS management system), enterprise risk management, and proactive programs (including external supply chain, air, water, waste, and other substantive EHS matters). The Sr. Corporate Counsel stays abreast of new requirements and emerging norms in key markets (including the United States, Europe, India and China) and recommends courses of action to address legal and compliance risks to senior management with a focus on solutions that address root cause and positively impact the global business.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the VP & AGC, Environmental & Sustainability Law, in this role your responsibilities include:

Complex Regulatory & Compliance Counseling: Provide legal advice and analysis on a wide range of environment, health, and safety regulatory and permitting matters, such as air (CAA), water (CWA), hazardous waste (RCRA), hazardous materials, chemicals management, OSHA, and environmental remediation matters to operating facilities and leadership. Support internal investigations into root cause of serious incidents. In addition, the Sr. Corporate Counsel will work with the business to develop innovative and proactive solutions to address root causes of regulatory and compliance challenges.Â

Enforcement and Claims Management: Lead the strategy for defense of regulatory enforcement matters and other claims. Represent Pfizer and oversee outside counsel in enforcement and administrative proceedings.Â

Global EHS and Sustainability Risk Management, Program Development & Implementation:Â Provide legal counsel on the operational risk management process and the development, implementation, and monitoring of company environment, health, safety and sustainability programs and policies. Â Develop proactive legal programs to improve efficiencies and reduce risk.

Contracts: Draft and negotiate EHS and sustainability provisions of various contracts including external supply agreements. Draft, negotiate, and update as needed waste management and other EHS specific agreements.

Business Transactions: Support real estate and business transactions as assigned including conducting due diligence, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating EHS and sustainability provisions.Â

Regulatory Monitoring & Policy: Proactively identify regulatory changes and emerging issues for assigned regions and programs and drive internal action or external advocacy (e.g. pending legislation and rulemaking activities by U.S. and non-U.S. governmental agencies).Â

External Engagement: Represent Pfizer with external associations and with the government as needed
