Position Overview: This position fulfills a critical role within the Technology and Commercial Transactions Practice Group which supports a broad spectrum of clients across a myriad of business areas. This Senior Counsel position will have a particular focus on complex technology transactions, including serving as key legal advisor and relationship manager to internal clients whose mission is to commercialize new technology developed at Johns Hopkins. As such, a strong background in IT contracting is required, as are strong negotiating skills and the ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships. In addition, like other members of the Transactions Practice Group, the position will support clients throughout the health system with their general transactional needs, including technology acquisition, licensing and implementation agreements, a broad range of consulting arrangements, data use agreements, and support to Supply Chain, to name just a few. The incumbent will have leadership opportunities through mentoring junior team members, participating on key committees, and advising leaders throughout the organization. The Senior Counsel position will report to the Chief Legal Counsel – Technology and Commercial Transactions.
In addition, this position provides a unique opportunity for the incumbent to be considered to succeed the current Practice Group Leader and Chief Legal Counsel for Technology and Commercial Transactions. Details of this opportunity will be discussed further with interested candidates.
Experience: At least fifteen (15) years of experience in managing, drafting and negotiating a variety of complex technology and commercial transaction agreements. Background in a healthcare setting or related industry is required. Strong leadership skills and proven success in managing and mentoring attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff.
Location: This position is fully remote.
Compensation: Competitive base and bonus.
Bar: Must be licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
