The position will function remotely, with the opportunity to attend in person meetings and events with colleagues and clients from time to time. The position will be titled as Senior Counsel or Associate Senior Counsel depending upon the experience of the successful candidate, and duties will be structured accordingly. Position Overview: This position will be a part of the Technology and Commercial Transactions Practice Group which provides legal support to numerous clients throughout the health system on a wide variety of transactional matters. This new position will have a particular focus on supporting the Supply Chain and Sourcing team by serving as the key legal advisor and relationship manager for Supply Chain leadership, advising on relevant regulatory and compliance issues, supporting contract managers with routine transactions, and leading the legal work on more complex procurement arrangements. In addition, the position will support numerous clients throughout the health system with their general transactional needs, including drafting and negotiating technology acquisitions, licensing, and implementation agreements, a broad range of consulting arrangements, data use and sharing agreements, and support to various clinical teams, to name just a few. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work regularly with legal colleagues in HIPAA, Compliance, Risk and Claims to address the full scope of issues presented by various transactions and contractual relationships. The Transactions Group not only oversees legal agreements entered into by JHHS entities, its members are also trusted business advisors to our clients. The successful candidate will be an asset to the Transaction Group by exhibiting not only expert legal knowledge, but also exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven history of developing and maintaining strong client relationships, and the ability to constructively negotiate a wide variety of legal agreements.
Experience: A minimum of eight (8) years of legal experience (with title and specific scope of responsibilities based on experience of successful candidate), and robust experience supporting supply chain activities in a healthcare environment (e.g. medical device and equipment purchases, product purchases, RFPs, drafting templates and creating playbooks, training non-lawyers on contracting process). The ideal candidate will have legal experience in the healthcare industry, be proficient in drafting and negotiating contracts, IT an licensing arrangements, and have knowledge of anti-kickback laws that govern these activities. The successful candidate will need to be collegial and collaborative, and be comfortable remotely advising clients, diplomatically and with a presence.
