Century Aluminum (“the Company”) has engaged Major, Lindsey & Africa on an exclusive basis to conduct a search for an Associate General Counsel, Business & Operations (“Associate General Counsel”).
Organization: Headquartered in Chicago, Century Aluminum (NASDAQ: CENX), with annual revenues of $2.8B in 2022, is the largest domestic producer and a global producer of primary aluminum and operates aluminum reduction facilities in the United States and Iceland. The company operates three U.S. aluminum smelters in Hawesville, Kentucky (Hawesville), Robards, Kentucky (Sebree), and Mt. Holly, South Carolina (Mt. Holly), and one smelter in Grundartangi, Iceland (Grundartangi). These primary aluminum facilities produce standard grade and value-added primary aluminum products.
Position: Reporting to the General Counsel, the Associate General Counsel will assist in protecting the organization’s legal interests and maintaining its US and international operations within the scope established by law and will provide hands-on counsel to all levels of plant, executive staff, and management personnel.
Experience: The successful candidate will be a generalist with at least eight (8) years of experience, preferably in the US manufacturing sector as an attorney, with a mix of experience as in-house counsel at a public company and with a reputable law firm. Ideally, the successful candidate will have oversight experience in several of the following areas: commercial transactions, litigation, regulatory compliance, and/or labor and employment. Key to this position for the successful candidate is adaptability with an open mind toward learning and responsibility for a variety of areas.
