This Legal Counsel position will  provide legal advice and counsel for a world-class, non-profit, academic medical center and affiliated health care system, joining an existing team specializing in this area.
In-depth knowledge of privacy law, including but not limited to GDPR, PIPEDA, LGPD, and PIPL, is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will have substantive privacy experience, excellent analytical skills, and the ability and confidence to represent Mayo Clinic in sophisticated, data-focused ventures around the globe. The candidate should also have the ability to identify, analyze, and strategically advise business stakeholders on regulatory and legal risks that exist under international privacy law.
This position requires a committed but humble leader who will coordinate across the Legal Department to deliver exceptional legal services and clear and concise counsel. The position will work collaboratively with sophisticated Risk and strategic Business Leaders. A strong academic background, as well as excellent communication and writing skills are required. The candidate must have the ability to manage multiple client relationships, with an understanding of, and willingness to meet, clients’ needs and business goals in a dynamic, team-based, multi- state, corporate legal department.
Qualifications: JD from an accredited law school and license to practice law. A minimum of five years of experience as an attorney counseling health care clients on data privacy matters as described above is required. Candidates should have strong project management and organizational skills, sound business judgment, and a demonstrated ability to identify, prioritize, and resolve legal issues quickly and effectively.
