Overview: Reporting to the Vice Chancellor and General Counsel, the Senior Associate General Counsel will engage in a wide-ranging, intellectually challenging, fast-paced, and demanding practice. The Senior AGC will also be expected to play a leadership role in the Office of General Counsel including, as appropriate, overseeing practice groups, coordinating complex legal projects, and attending meetings on behalf of the General Counsel. Practice areas will focus on providing legal and strategic advice on a wide array of complex topics involving multiple stakeholders, including in the areas of employment law, student affairs, athletics, and general complex transactional, regulatory, and litigation matters, among others.

Experience: A minimum of seven (7) years of general legal experience, including at least five (5) years with increasingly sophisticated experience in providing legal advice to institutions of higher education or comparable entities, whether as in-house or outside counsel. Experience handling legal issues in the higher education space is required.
Bar: Licensed to practice law in the State of North Carolina (or eligibility for admission within 12 months of hire).
