Job Summary With limited direction from the Managing Senior Counsel, advise the Private Wealth line of business on legal issues, potential and actual litigation, changes in federal and state law, and legal document review. Responsibilities including drafting legal agreements, staying informed of and communicating legal and regulatory requirements, and supporting the business line's implementation of policies and procedures in accordance with the bank's legal responsibilities and to minimize exposure to financial loss.
Job Accountabilities
Provide support to the Private Wealth line of business for day-to-day legal matters and questions, including drafting, reviewing, finalizing, and interpreting agreements and other legal documents.
Provide support to the Senior Counsel as necessary. May also provide direct or indirect supervision for other legal staff, such as Associate Counsel I and paralegals.
Research law-related questions and report findings to the appropriate departments or colleagues.
Attend internal client and committee meetings.
Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
Monitor legal environment (e.g., changes in state or federal laws, rules and regulations, court decisions, etc.) to ensure awareness of actual and pending changes in each area of legal responsibility and communicate information internally as appropriate.
Serve as a liaison with and monitor the performance of outside counsel to ensure quality and contain costs.
Assist in the oversight of the legal aspects of organizational transactions.
Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the General Counsel or Managing Senior Counsel.
