Vice President, Associate General Counsel - Digital Assets

Based in Boston, this role will report directly to the Head of Digital Assets Legal and be a senior leader on the team. The Digital Assets Legal team provides legal and regulatory guidance and support for the Fidelity Digital Asset Services and Fidelity Digital Asset Management businesses. Fidelity Digital Assets Services is a digital asset custody and trading platform and Fidelity Digital Asset Management is a digital asset investment management business. The Fidelity Digital Assets Legal group also provides legal and regulatory guidance and support in blockchain, smart contract and related technology to enable the research, development and offering of new products and services across the Fidelity Investments enterprise and the Fidelity Center for Applied Technology.
Supporting a broad range of activity across Fidelity’s crypto and blockchain products and services businesses, including developing new products and services, launching new business initiatives and investing and partnering with startups.
Advising on the legal and regulatory issues related to the development and offering of digital asset products and services and the use of blockchain and smart contract related technology in collaboration with multiple groups within Fidelity, including product, client experience, risk, compliance, finance, sales, technology, and marketing
Providing legal support, analysis, and interpretation in connection with legislative and policy developments
Advise business and control function partners in the context of new business initiatives and implementation of new legal and regulatory requirements and interpretations in relation to Fidelity’s digital asset related products and services
Work closely with business and control function partners to identify changing laws, regulations and interpretative guidance and coordinate effective, fluid, and timely implementation of policy, process, and procedural changes to ensure compliance therewith
The legal function must continue to evolve to become more integrated into the fabric of our different business units and organizations. This includes:

Government Relations and Communications Organizations – active engagement on legislative and policy developments in the blockchain technology and digital assets space

The Expertise and Skills You Bring
A minimum of 10 years of legal and regulatory experience in financial services, including securities, trading and capital markets, banking and payments services
Expertise in the regulation of digital assets and crypto, blockchain and smart contract technologies in the provision of financial services and products
Expertise in U.S. federal securities laws and regulations
Experience in development and offering of banking and payment services
Experience managing and developing a team of seasoned professionals; demonstrated management experience in leading a high performing team through rapid growth
