This position is telework and may require intermittent time at one of our Mayo Clinic sites in AZ, FL, Rochester, MN or Eau Claire, WI.

Mayo Clinic has launched a bold new initiative to expand its reach and help more patients by creatively leveraging data analytics, digital platforms, business partnerships and international relationships. We are seeking an experienced, savvy, solution-oriented health science and regulatory compliance attorney who will play a critical role in helping Mayo succeed in this endeavor. This Legal Counsel position will provide legal advice and counsel for a world-class, non-profit, academic medical center and affiliated health care system, joining existing teams specializing in these areas. The ideal candidate will have substantive medical/scientific research, general health law, and regulatory compliance experience, as well as an ability to compile and analyze business information, assess risk strategically, and provide recommendations to help Mayo Clinic achieve its goals.

This Legal Counsel position will work collaboratively with sophisticated Risk, Compliance, Research Offices and the clinical practice. This position will retain and manage outside counsel and lead and participate in teams. A strong academic background, as well as excellent communication and writing skills are required. The candidate must have the ability to manage multiple client relationships, with an understanding of, and willingness to meet, clients’ needs and business goals in a dynamic, team-based, multi- state, corporate legal department.

Qualifications: Requires completion of law school. A minimum of five years of experience advising healthcare clients on general health law, complex medical/scientific research regulations and other regulatory matters. Candidates should have sound legal project management skills and the ability to effectively lead teams, serve as a positive change agent, and delegate work in a fast-paced, team-based environment within a dynamic organization.
