Insurance Experience – Tax, Regulatory or Corporate with the ability and willingness to operate cross departmentally.

Eversheds Sutherland (US) LLP is seeking an associate or counsel with a minimum of 3 years of experience to work with its Insurance team within the Tax practice group. We are looking to add a team member who can speak insurance and is multifaceted, with a combination of skills or willingness to be multifaceted with the talent to exercise a combination of skills, including corporate document drafting, understanding and applying the insurance regulatory rules, and understanding and applying the federal (and sometimes state) tax rules applicable to the insurance sector.

Additionally, this associate will have extensive interaction with clients, and the opportunity to be part of a practice that provides advice to a broad range of Fortune 100 clients and multinational companies.

• A minimum of three years of corporate, regulatory or tax experience with the Insurance industry is required. Specifically, experience analyzing the applicable tax or regulatory rules, drafting bespoke documents or planning transactions to achieve desired business objectives in compliance with tax and regulatory rules.   
• A working understanding of either the federal and US international tax rules or state regulatory rules relevant to insurance companies or captive insurance companies is preferred.  
• A desire and willingness to learn both the federal and US international tax rules and state regulatory environment/rules relevant to insurance companies, and to draft agreements as well as other legal documents and memoranda is required.
• Excellent writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills are required.
• The ability to amicably counsel clients is a plus.
• Strong academic records and impressive communication abilities are preferred.
• A team-player mindset, self-motivation, and the willingness to assume responsibility for assignments in an active practice is required.
