The Senior HIPPAA Compliance Consultant position is responsible for implementing core components of the Company's corporate compliance program relating to health information privacy (the “Privacy Compliance Program”), with an emphasis on managing the negotiation of agreements relating to the use and/or disclosure of protected health information ( "PHI") under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act ("HIPAA") and personally identifiable information ("PII") under key state privacy laws.
Principle Duties Include:
Negotiate various business agreements with responsibility for ensuring that the terms and conditions relating to PHI and/or PII are in accordance with applicable HIPAA requirements, other federal and state privacy laws and the Company's interests and/or contracting guidelines
Monitor and/or oversee certain contracted entities to ensure that HIPAA and/or other privacy law compliance requirements are met
Develop template data use agreements for various business arrangements
Staying current on HIPAA, other key federal and state privacy laws and the Privacy Compliance Program
Maintain and revise, as needed, privacy related policies and procedures
Develop annual Privacy Compliance Program training materials for the Company's workforce
Provide guidance and education to various Company stakeholders seeking advice and consultation with respect to HIPAA, other federal and state privacy laws and the Privacy Compliance Program.
6+ years related work experience within an organization applying/operationalizing a data privacy compliance program.
Related Bachelor’s degree or additional related equivalent work experience
Detailed knowledge of HIPAA. Experience negotiating, reviewing and drafting HIPAA Business Associate Agreements and other contractual business arrangements relating to the use and/or disclosure of PHI and PII.
Ability to understand, research, analyze, interpret and apply HIPAA and other federal and state privacy laws, rules, regulations and guidelines.
Experience working with stakeholders at all levels in the organization.
Demonstrated organization, facilitation, communication and presentation skills.
Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
