BASIC FUNCTION: This position is responsible for providing legal advice and support for complex legal matters as a member of the Enterprise Privacy, Security and Data Legal team. The position provides strategic guidance to the enterprise on all facets of federal and state privacy, security and data laws and regulations, and performs accurate legal analysis, research, and monitoring of the evolving federal and state law landscape. The position provides timely and highly specialized expert legal guidance to a variety of business areas, including the corporate Privacy Office, Information Security, Data Analytics, and Procurement divisions and performs high volume agreement structuring and transactional law guidance. This is a crucial role to meet the fast pace of business demands to roll out new customer solutions, new vendors, meet regulatory requirements and other operational functionality.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: * Juris Doctor Degree and a license to practice law in the state where the legal department is located. * 8 years experience as an attorney with demonstrated understanding/experience of the health care or insurance field. * Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills. * Negotiations and diplomacy skills. * Ability to effectively communicate with and influence stakeholders on complex legal issues; * Experience in managing client relations or communicating on complex matters across a variety of business divisions * Demonstrated ability to think strategically and develop a sound approach for meeting business expectations while minimizing cost and burden on the company; * Commitment to delivering quality and timely legal services, plus a committed solutions-oriented approach; * Hands-on, hard-working, “roll up your sleeves” style, with both business partners and Legal teammates; * Demonstrated business and strategic acumen and ongoing commitment to business partnering; * Demonstrated ability to function as a self-starter and value-add contributor; * Excellent verbal and written communication skills; * Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment while effectively managing multiple projects and competing priorities.
PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS: * Experience in Privacy, Security or Data, health care and/or insurance law * In house or large law firm, government agency experience * CIPP/US Certification a plus
