Overview: The Senior Counsel I or II will provide legal advice and counsel to the Authority regarding a variety of legal issues, which may include labor, employment, and federal regulatory and administrative matters. The Senior Counsel I or II may represent WMATA in civil litigation, appeals, and administrative proceedings.
Company: The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority was created by an interstate compact in 1967 to plan, develop, build, finance, and operate a balanced regional transportation system in the national capital area. Today, Metrorail serves 91 stations over 117 miles of track. Metrobus serves the nation's capital 24 hours a day, seven days a week with a fleet of more than 1,500 buses. Metrorail and Metrobus serve a population of approximately four million within a 1,500-square mile jurisdiction consisting of the District of Columbia, the suburban counties of Montgomery and Prince George’s and the Northern Virginia counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, and the cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, and Falls Church.

Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of experience in civil litigation and/or regulatory or administrative matters and in providing legal advice and counsel to clients. Substantive litigation experience in the District of Columbia, Maryland, or Virginia is required.
