The Antitrust Legal Counsel will provide advice to different Qualcomm product and licensing business units on a wide range of antitrust issues that relate to IP, M&A and compliance. In particular, the attorney will deal with counseling and compliance matters (e.g., pricing, licensing, general behavior) and be deeply involved in litigation, antitrust investigations and global merger control. The individual will be expected to provide sound, practical and strategic antitrust advice to help Qualcomm execute its business strategy. The attorney will be working collaboratively in a team environment on multiple projects to achieve cost effective and successful outcomes.
The ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years of legal experience focused on antitrust law counseling and compliance, antitrust investigations, merger clearance and/or antitrust litigation. There is a strong preference for those who have top-tier law firm training, in-house training in companies that have faced significant antitrust scrutiny and/or experience at an antitrust agency.
The successful candidate will assist antitrust and litigation colleagues on a wide range of matters. As such, it is indispensable for the candidate to have experience dealing with US and/or EU antitrust agencies on conduct and merger cases. S/he will be responsible for advising the business units and executives of the company on worldwide antitrust compliance for product sales and licensing matters. S/he must have excellent communication skills (verbal & written) and have the ability to concisely communicate complex antitrust issues for business managers.
This position will report to Qualcomm’s VP – Head of Global Antitrust and Chief Antitrust Compliance Officer, but will be expected to be able to work with minimum supervision and interact directly with other attorneys at Qualcomm (domestic & international), business leads and outside counsel.
7+ years experience with 3-5 years’ experience as a practicing attorney with focused antitrust experience and expertise.
Top-tier law firm, in-house, or antitrust agency training and experience
Deep knowledge of with antitrust laws and regulations, US and/or EU notably on the interaction of IP and antitrust, pricing conduct (tying, bundling, predatory pricing…) and merger control
J.D. degree, with strong academic credentials and an active admission to practice law, in at least one US jurisdiction or EU Member State
Experience with managing outside counsel
Persuasive communications skills with the ability to distill complex matters and simplify issues
Solid understanding of the semiconductor industry
Sound understanding of antitrust compliance and risk management
