The primary purpose of this job is to oversee all ongoing activities related to the development, implementation and maintenance of the company's US privacy policies and programs in accordance with applicable laws and in accordance with company policies both in the US and abroad, providing strategic direction regarding existing and emerging privacy and data protection laws.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Builds a strategic and comprehensive US privacy program, including appropriate policies and procedures, to enable consistent, effective data privacy practices; to minimize privacy risk; and to ensure the confidentiality of personal data.
Ensures privacy forms, policies, standards, and procedures are up-to-date and compliant with laws applicable to the organization.
Working closely with the IT, Security, Information Governance, eDiscovery and other individuals with privacy and data handling responsibilities in the company, sets US strategy and develops approaches to complex privacy matters involving systems, processes and data handling activities.
Participates in the development, implementation, and ongoing compliance monitoring of all facets of the US privacy program to ensure all privacy concerns, requirements, and responsibilities are addressed, including privacy risk assessment/analysis, mitigation and remediation when needed.
Develops privacy training materials and other communications to increase employee understanding of company privacy policies, data handling practices and procedures and legal obligations. Oversees, directs, delivers or ensures delivery of initial privacy training and orientation to all US employees and other stakeholders. Conducts ongoing privacy training and awareness activities.
Law degree, Master’s degree or other advanced degree from an accredited institution in related field (e.g., regulatory/healthcare compliance) preferred.
Privacy Professional certification preferred (CIPP/US, CIPP/M, CIPP/EU, etc.).
At least ten (10) years of experience in the privacy profession, including time in or advising pharmaceutical companies on healthcare privacy related activities.
In-depth knowledge of global privacy laws related to the pharmaceutical industry.
Depth of Privacy subject matter knowledge needed in order to successfully measure, navigate and support business needs across all departments and businesses.
Experience with building and implementing a privacy program preferred.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within an organization with senior leaders.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
