MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Monitor and manage claims files assigned, alert and consult with supervisory counsel on those which may present UE exposure 
• Positively impact the resolution of files through early interaction, reference to ADR, mediation and effective litigation management 
• Evaluate claims to ensure coverage under applicable policies 
• Make initial liability and damage investigation with insured, including a discussion of coverage 
• Participate with the insured and defense counsel in developing a case resolution strategy 
• Draft acknowledgment/reservation of rights/declination letters and defense counsel appointment letters 
• Evaluate budgets submitted by defense counsel for reasonableness; discuss budgets with insureds and defense counsel 
• Perform legal research as needed 
• Regularly review files for compliance with the agreed upon budget and strategy 
• Recommend, establish and update reserves 
• Establish cooperative relationships with insureds and defense counsel to promote effective and efficient claims management 
• Provide prompt review of legal bills for reasonableness and compliance with Defense Counsel Guidelines  
• Analyze reported claims for accurate loss coding information
