(This position is not available to be performed in Colorado) GENERAL SUMMARY The KM Counsel II is responsible for encouraging the adoption and use of knowledge management products and services. The KM Counsel II will work with attorneys, practice groups, other KM Attorneys and clients, to identify and evaluate how KM products and services can meet specific needs; what requirements exist and how KM products and services can be modified or developed to address those existing requirements; and guide and support KM products and services solutions through and beyond implementation. The KM Counsel II will champion the use of KM products; create communication and training strategies for users when new KM products are introduced; and support the day-to-day operations of the firm's KM products. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES - Work with the members of the Knowledge Management Department and IT to better deploy legal services applications and products to strengthen and encourage knowledge management across the firm.
- Work with the members of the Knowledge Management Department and IT to better deploy client-facing legal services applications and products.
- Meet with firm attorneys, practice groups and clients to define, analyze, and gather requirements to determine which KM products and services would appropriately address specific needs.
- Work with KM attorneys, the Product Innovation team and firm practice groups to identify opportunities to productize practice group services.
- Develop use cases based on meetings with KM Attorneys, firm attorneys, practice groups and clients.
- Establish and maintain operating procedures, testing and quality assurance measures relating to existing KM products and services.
- Develop training strategies and supporting materials for users of KM products and services.
- Work with others in the KM Department and the Marketing Department to develop communication strategy for KM products and services to establish and maintain strong communications with users across the firm.
- Champion the use of KM products by working directly with attorneys to encourage adoption and compliance.
- Monitor the use of KM products and services and recommend enhancements as needed.
- Perform such other/additional duties as may from time to time be assigned.
TECHNICAL SKILLS AND COMPENTENCIES REQUIRED - Excellent writing skills, including the ability to gather due diligence, perform research and document conclusions and recommendations.
- Outstanding verbal and presentation skills, including the ability to address large groups.
- Advanced analytical and information gathering skills; ability to evaluate and prioritize extensive, detailed data.
- Content management experience, including experience working with taxonomies, library research principles and search engine optimization.
- Experience working with SharePoint, document automation software, Recommind, social networking/collaboration and related or similar systems.
- Project management experience, carrying projects through the entire lifecycle, and process improvement experience essential.
- Strong understanding of knowledge management, trends in the industry as they pertain to law firms; demonstrated knowledge of the range of technologies available to effectively deliver information and knowledge services.
- Demonstrated track record of developing innovative solutions that meet the needs of the business.
- Strong technical aptitude and understanding, including ability to quickly learn new applications. Proactively use most current technology to further teamwork, client service, and efficiency.
- Ability to effectively manage technical issues with vendors, consultants and other knowledge management service providers.
- Ability to take an assignment from inception to completion with minimal supervision or by following broad guidelines.
- Ability to perceive and analyze problems and to develop responsive solutions.
- Ability to assess information, anticipate issues and outcomes, and make effective decisions.
- Strong organizational skills; ability to manage large amounts of paper and electronic data and the ability to create organizational solutions where a precedent may not exist.
- Creative problem solving skills and the ability to think beyond the task or project at hand.
