Principal Responsibilities

• Advise complex organizations within KP enterprise-wide, across multiple legal business entities.
• Advise Health Plan & Hospitals leadership regarding complex business litigation, managed care litigation, government investigations, privacy lawsuits, class actions, and high-profile cases with potentially significant reputational and business impact.
• Practice also may include some management of single plaintiff employment litigation matters.

Basic Qualifications

• A minimum of 8+ years of complex litigation experience (excluding workers’ compensation and medical malpractice).
• Demonstrated experience in shaping and executing litigation and investigation strategies in significant matters.
• Excellent inter-personal skills with clients, co-workers and subordinates.
• Demonstrated qualities consistent with the Department’s preferred operating style, i.e., mutual respect, fairness, honesty, ethical behavior, independent, creative thinking while operating as a team member.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in most of all of the above-referenced areas.
• Applicable bar license or willingness to obtain such license within two years.
• JD required.
• Excellent academic and professional qualifications.
• Excellent references.

Preferred Qualifications

• 12+ years of litigation experience in prosecuting or defending major healthcare clients.
• Substantial complex litigation experience in the health law field (excluding workers’ compensation and medical malpractice).
• Trial experience.
• Significant class action experience.
• Big law firm training a plus.
