Assistant General Counsel, Business Law - Tax

FLSA Status: Exempt Earliest Start Date: 04/01/2021 Salary: $130,000/year+ negotiable depending on qualifications. Hours per Week: 40.00, flexible between 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Hiring Department: Office of General Counsel

Purpose of Position: The University of Texas System Office of General Counsel, which advises the UT System’s 14 academic and health-related institutions, seeks a versatile attorney with particular experience in tax law to provide legal advice, counsel, and representation on tax matters. The ideal candidate will also be eager to collaborate and problem-solve with clients and team members on other legal issues.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. Required Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications: LL.M. degree in Taxation, Tax Law or International Tax from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association.
