Overview: This is an outstanding opportunity to join groundbreaking biotechnology leader Moderna, Inc. (“Moderna” or “Company”). Moderna is seeking an experienced patent attorney to assist the Intellectual Property Team in building, managing, defending and enforcing the company’s patent estate. This person will be responsible for supporting in-house counsel in the capturing of innovation, development of the patent estate and counseling of the internal client with regards to due diligence efforts, patentability, freedom-to-operate and other intellectual property-related matters.
Company: Moderna is advancing messenger RNA (mRNA) science to create a new class of transformative medicines for patients. mRNA medicines are designed to direct the body’s cells to produce intracellular, membrane, or secreted proteins that can have a therapeutic or preventive benefit and have the potential to address a broad spectrum of diseases. The Company’s platform builds on continuous advances in basic and applied mRNA science, delivery technology and manufacturing, providing Moderna the capability to pursue in parallel a robust pipeline of new development candidates. Moderna is developing therapeutics and vaccines for infectious diseases, immuno-oncology, rare diseases, cardiovascular diseases, and autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, independently and with strategic collaborators.
Compensation: A highly competitive base salary and bonus, as well as equity.

Relocation: Yes, this is a national search.
Experience: The successful candidate will have a minimum of seven years of meaningful legal experience preparing and prosecuting patents and advising life science companies on IP-related matters, with an advanced degree in biology, immunology, or a related discipline. A Ph.D. is strongly preferred. An undergraduate degree in the biological sciences and/or an advanced chemistry degree along with significant work experience in a relevant discipline may be considered.
