FM Global is seeking a corporate counsel to work at company headquarters in Johnston, RI.
Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a litigation counsel, preferably including trial experience and litigating in federal and state court.
Additional experience as an in-house counsel for a large organization managing litigation, dispute resolution, and outside counsel is preferred.
Specialized knowledge and experience with insurance coverage and professional liability disputes, employment law matters, and subrogation preferred.
Strong writing, analytical, and presentation skills.
Ability to provide practical business advice on complicated legal issues.
Skilled at resolving complex issues and thinking creatively.
A self-starter who works well with minimal supervision, yet exercises excellent judgment about when to look for guidance from managers and colleagues.
An excellent communicator with diverse and time-pressed internal clients.
Effective working in cross-functional teams, open-minded, inclusive, and flexible.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
Travel required approximately 25% of time.
JD degree and active member of a state bar.
Provide legal advice and assistance to internal clients such as Claims, Underwriting, Human Resources, Executive Management, and Engineering on issues related to their disciplines.
Manage litigation and the work of outside counsel on matters throughout our global operations. This includes active, hands-on management of cases, including resolving matters in mediation, preparing witnesses for depositions, attending trials—whatever the nature and size of the matter warrants.
Provide training on legal issues to internal clients.
Advise on miscellaneous legal matters that arise in connection with a global business.
