Overview: This is an outstanding opportunity to join an exciting and innovative publicly traded biopharmaceutical company with a mission to help conquer cancer through targeted vaccines and immunotherapies. Genocea is seeking a General Counsel & Secretary to report directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and be a member of Genocea's executive leadership team. The GC will be expected to play a critical role in Genocea’s strategic decision-making and to provide operational leadership across a wide array of legal, governance and compliance matters.
Company: Genocea is a publicly traded biopharmaceutical company based in Cambridge, MA that is developing personalized cancer immunotherapies. The Company’s unique ATLAS™ technology platform allows them to identify targets based on each person’s tumor antigen-specific T cell responses. Using ATLAS, the Company can both optimize neoantigens for inclusion in their immunotherapies and exclude inhibitory antigens that exert an immunosuppressive effect on anti-tumor immune responses. Genocea is advancing complementary programs built from ATLAS insights: GEN-009, a neoantigen vaccine candidate for which they are conducting a Phase 1/2a clinical trial across a variety of solid tumor types, and GEN-011, a neoantigen-specific adoptive T cell therapy, for which they have filed an Investigational New Drug Application and expect to conduct a Phase 1/2a clinical trial. The Company recently closed a private placement funding of $80M.
Experience: The successful candidate will hold a J.D. and 10+ years of corporate and transactional legal experience, including law firm training and in-house experience in roles of increasing scope and responsibility representing biotech, pharma or related life science companies. Comprehensive experience representing a public company with SEC and NASDAQ disclosure and reporting required. Legal experience spanning the research, development, approval, and launch of biotechnology products a strong plus. Prior experience in a GC or senior legal role working closely with and advising public company executive teams and boards highly preferred.
Compensation: A highly competitive compensation package, including base salary, bonus, and equity will be offered for this position consistent with the candidate’s level of experience.
Relocation: This is a national search, although local candidates are preferred.
