Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant legal practice, with more preferred, including preference for BIGLAW or rigorous in-house training and a demonstrated orientation and depth of experience in higher education policy. Substantial experience representing colleges or universities is a plus. This is an ideal opportunity for an attorney who has a strong education policy orientation and depth of knowledge in federal law and policy and strategic planning; project management experience; and strong verbal, writing and facilitation skills.
Having experience in issues associated with student and faculty diversity and inclusion in higher education, including with respect to legal challenges associated with affirmative action, is a plus. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to advancing access and diversity-related goals, closing opportunity gaps, as well as to eliminating systemic societal inequity based on race, ethnicity, gender and other identities that create barriers for individuals of talent and promise in higher education.
Admission to one state bar is required. District of Columbia Bar admission is preferred. Ability to apply promptly and gain admission to the District of Columbia Bar is required.
