M. A. Mortenson Company (“Mortenson””) has engaged Major, Lindsey & Africa (“MLA”) on an exclusive basis to conduct a search for a Counsel, Federal Contracting to be located in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
This position, which will be located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, requires an Undergraduate degree from a well-known university/college combined with a J.D. from a highly respected law school, active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, with ability to become licensed in MN with six months of hire, and 7-12 years relevant experience providing a broad array of hands-on legal advice in construction law, with particular focus in the area of federal contracting at a law firm or in an in-house legal department. Responsibilities include providing expertise in FARs and other government laws and regulations.
The candidate, reporting to Mortenson’s Vice President, Associate General Counsel, will have a special focus on federal contracting will be responsible for working collaboratively with team members at all levels of the Company and providing practical, solution-oriented legal support for Mortenson’s federal contracting group and advising others regarding federal contracting requirements.
In addition, the Counsel will provide legal support for construction contract review, dispute resolution, state and local government contracting, and other construction- and non-construction matters and legal issues such as energy, employment, environmental, SAS contracts, compliance and intellectual property. Large law firm training with focus on advising clients regarding federal contracting requirements, as well as state and local government contracting, is strongly preferred.
