Sodexo Government is seeking a qualified Contracts Director, that has demonstrated skills and experience in working with the government and in-depth knowledge of various commercial and government contract types and significant working knowledge of the following regulations:
Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)
Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFARS)
US Ability One Commission Regulations, and
the Service Contract Act (SCA)
Experience with Cost Accounting Standards and an appreciation for financial/analytical issues and profit and loss implications. Advanced contract and technical knowledge and/or experience in joint venture formation, strategic partnering, or other highly complex contractual arrangements.
Location: This position will have an office location out of Gaithersburg MD, which is Sodexo’s North American headquarters.
About the position:
The Government contract management function aims to support the achievement of the company’s financial and strategic objectives, ensures compliance with ethical and contractual undertakings and the integrity of commitments being made on behalf of the company.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities of the Government Contract’s Director:
Plays a proactive part in developing the government segment’s contract management function and takes joint responsibility for the achievement of the function’s objectives.
Provides recommendations and authoritative advice on key dependencies, risks, liabilities and opportunities in solicitations, proposals and contracts (federal, state/local and commercial).
Undertakes contract management activities, including (but not limited to):
Ensuring that a robust contract baseline is established and maintained;
Supporting Program Management, including without limitation, in the management of contract changes, e.g., the preparation, approval and negotiation of associated proposals and contract amendments;
Providing guidance and recommendations on compliance to Federal Acquisition Regulations, terms and conditions, etc.;
Drafting contractual agreements, e.g., confidentiality agreements, teaming agreements, subcontracts, etc.
Interpreting, when required, the contracted requirement, including terms and conditions and scope of work; and
Identifying and managing issues and disputes arising with customers in conjunction with the Legal function.
Provides active participation in the company’s bids and proposal process.
Demonstrated success in the ability to develop negotiation strategy, lead the negotiation to achieve the company’s desired results, and to develop strong relationships as the direct interface.
Ensures adherence to functional procedures and company policies.
Supports the improvement and development of the function.
Establishes and maintains professional and effective relationships with internal and external customers, representatives, and counterparts.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
An advanced degree from an accredited college or university (a Juris Doctor degree is preferred).
8+ years applicable business-related work experience
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Able to communicate, influence and operate effectively at all levels of the organization.
Able to formulate negotiation strategies, carry out negotiations and problem solve.
Displays passion, energy, drive, agility and resilience in achieving work-related goals under challenging circumstances.
