UC Irvine Health Sciences based in Orange, California has retained Witt/Kieffer to assist in the recruitment of candidates for the Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading academic medical center and work closely with senior leadership in realizing its overall goals and objectives centered on innovative healthcare delivery.
The Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer (CCO) will provide overall direction through the strategic development and execution of a healthcare compliance program including privacy and information security in support of the mission and strategic goals of UC Irvine Health Sciences. This position will report directly to Richard Ganotta, Chief Executive Officer of UC Irvine Health and Michael Stamos, M.D., Dean of UC Irvine School of Medicine. The Chief Compliance Officer also has a dotted line reporting to the Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance and Audit Officer with the University of California Office of the President.
The new CCO will continue to develop and oversee an integrated, enterprise wide compliance and privacy program to support UC Irvine Health Sciences including but not limited to the UC Irvine Medical Center, UC Irvine Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, faculty practice group, 15 clinics, Medicare ACO, two FQHCs and the College of Health Sciences. This is a mission critical position dedicated to the development of a compliance program serving the needs of a growing organization committed to interdisciplinary integrative health.
Compliance is very important within UC Irvine Health Sciences as the organization continues to grow. Education and training on compliance and privacy issues as well as the proactive identification of potential regulatory barriers and impediments to health care delivery and research will serve as the crux of the new CCO’s responsibilities and goals. The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree while a Juris Doctor, Master’s degree in Business, Health Care Administration, Public Health or equivalent degree is preferred. Certification in healthcare compliance (CHC, CHC-F, CHRC and/or CCEP) is preferred. In addition, candidates must have an outstanding record of achievement with at least 12 years of experience in healthcare and knowledge of all elements of corporate compliance in relationship to practice plan management and health care delivery, including strategy, business planning, operations and finance. Prior experience in an academic medical center or complex integrated healthcare delivery system is strongly desired.
