This position is a vital member of the Marketing & Intellectual Property Legal Team, which handles legal issues involving intellectual property, social media, marketing, advertising, domain names, and sponsorships.
The position has primary responsibility for several vital areas: (1) legal support for social media – reviewing content, drafting agreements, and providing real-time guidance on high profile issues; (2) protecting the valuable Nationwide brand through our trademarks -- strategy, prosecution, maintenance, and enforcement; (3) drafting and negotiating IP license agreements, and IP-related language in other contracts.
This high performer will also work on other exciting, high-profile projects on our dynamic team.
To succeed, the lawyer must be able to master “the speed of social media,” along with its language and technology. This means flexibility, a self-motivated sense of urgency, and a passionate sense of ownership for both process and results. Knowing the law is important, but this job also requires an ability to apply it to new circumstances in “real time,” and develop pragmatic business solutions.
The position is the primary point of contact for several important teams, and works daily with both new employees and senior leaders – so the candidate must have excellent judgment, professionalism, and a presence that inspires confidence with audiences at all levels.
