We are seeking a trial lawyer for our Tampa Bay Staff Counsel office, to litigate moderate to complex insurance defense cases. The candidate must have the ability to handle the defense of personal injury and property damage claims from inception to settlement, mediation, arbitration or trial.
Provide legal advice and strategy on assigned cases, with extensive contact with the Claims personnel assigned. May also be called upon to provide advice on pre-litigation matters.
Prepare legal pleadings, motions, memoranda and other documents on assigned cases. Provides legal advice and representation to clients, and appear for in Court for depositions, motions, conferences, and trials, as required.
Prepare reports and memos for Claims including Initial Case analysis, discovery and deposition reports, and Pre-trial reports and strategy.
Evaluate case specific legal issues and directs appropriate resources and responses.
Conduct direct settlement negotiations with plaintiff’s attorneys.
Provide in-house training for claims personnel regarding changes in litigation and/or appropriate processes and procedures.
Provide guidance to team members and serve as a mentor to other team members.
JD from an accredited Law School.
Licensed to practice law in the jurisdictions served.
6+ years handling personal injury/property damage cases.
Familiarity with the Court Systems in the geographic area being served.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Westlaw.

Heavy trial experience, including verdicts, in the Courts of Florida.
