The Assistant General Counsel, reporting to the Vice President, Associate General Counsel - Global M&A and supporting other Aon M&A colleagues, will lead transactions and provide legal advice and business counsel to the company on both domestic and international mergers, acquisitions and divestitures. In addition, the Assistant General Counsel will from time to time be called upon to support the Group on other global corporate law initiatives including procurement, commercial contracting and corporate real estate matters.
Working closely with Aon’s corporate development team and cross-functional stakeholders this attorney will have the opportunity to lead on all legal-related matters in connection with Aon’s most transformative and critical transactions.
JD and licensed in the state of IL
8+ years complex M&A legal experience
Transactional training at a large law firm highly preferred
Significant experience as lead attorney for drafting and negotiating the full range of M&A transaction documentation and leading due diligence efforts
Team player with demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and work collaboratively plus experience of working with multiple cultures
Self-starter with proven ability to effectively manage multiple large-scale matters simultaneously, using creative and critical thinking and problem solving skills
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to facilitate negotiations and critical discussions with internal and external counterparts
Strong internal motivation with commitment to delivering highest level of counsel with integrity
Willingness to travel internationally desired
