Visa is seeking a sourcing, commercial and technology transactions attorney to work with the Visa legal team’s support of Visa’s global sourcing function. The attorney will work on a variety of strategic sourcing transactions and work with leading information technology hardware, software, and services companies around the world. In addition, the attorney will work on process implementation and improvement, including review, update, and creation of templates and policies, working with stakeholders across Visa, including regulatory compliance, data privacy, technology, sourcing, and intellectual property.
The position will be on Visa's IP, Innovation, Technology and Strategic Partnerships legal team. You will need to work collaboratively with colleagues to integrate legal support of sourcing with legal support of other technology transactions and internal clients, including to take into account needs and requirements related to Visa’s work with emerging fintech companies. You will need to be able to juggle multiple priorities in a dynamic, challenging, and rewarding environment; be a thought leader on strategic sourcing engagements; be a strong negotiator with strong influencing skills; be open to learning Visa’s business; and be self-motivated and willing to work reasonably hard. Experience supporting sourcing for financial services companies is a plus, but prior payments experience is not necessary.
Work with senior executives to develop programmatic approaches to relationships with Visa’s key sourcing partners
Work closely with business and technology teams to understand and achieve key business objectives
Develop one or more “playbooks” for applicable sourcing arrangements, including to achieve worldwide consistency and support within regional legal departments
You likely will be asked to draft, negotiate and complete other complex commercial, technology, and strategic partnership agreements
Provide counseling and advice to business and technology teams regarding deal structures and common approaches to addressing issues
Work on Efforts to insure Visa’s relationships with suppliers meet strategic and regulatory requirements
Some travel may be required
Strong academic credentials, including a J.D. degree from a top law school, and experience at a premier law firm or work of equivalent proficiency
Experience at a premier law firm or equivalent
4-10 years’ experience, of which at least 4 years should include legal support of a sophisticated sourcing function (whether in-house or as an outside counsel)
Experience working independently and collaborating with executive level partners with little or no supervision
Be a practical and can-do problem-solver, have strong business insight and be confident, mature and calm under fire
Demonstrated ability to lead and drive complex commercial and technology transactions, including internationally
Excellent legal analytical skills with the ability to integrate legal advice and business knowledge, while providing equitable advice regarding risks and benefits
