Role Purpose The Counsel, Compliance will identify, review and monitor compliance risks and matters, and work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders, including Compliance Team members, colleagues in the Legal Department, senior management and Human Resources to drive implementation of and enhance the Compliance Program. This position reports to the VP, Compliance.
Responsibilities •Partner with other NBCUniversal Compliance group members and other stakeholders to help develop, implement, communicate and maintain legal and compliance policies and procedures.
•Assess risks, identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and work with various stakeholders to develop and implement risk mitigation plans as appropriate.
•Lead and/or assist in the investigation and evaluation of allegations of non-compliance, and drive implementation of remedial and preventive action as necessary.
•Coordinate with others in the Legal Department to anticipate and understand changing business models and develop corresponding processes to ensure compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
•Participate in the development and periodic review and updating of policies and processes to ensure continuing currency and relevance.
•Monitor updates to laws and regulations, assess the impact on current NBCUniversal systems and processes, and modify processes and procedures as necessary to ensure compliance.
•Assist in the development of training and communication programs to educate employees, agents and other business partners regarding legal, policy and regulatory requirements.
•Assist with various compliance projects and perform other compliance program-related duties as needed.
Basic Qualifications • Law degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Member in good standing of the State Bar of California or member in good standing of another State Bar and registered as in-house counsel
•Minimum of four years of experience as a lawyer with demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the required elements of effective compliance programs, as outlined in the US Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
