The Senior Transactions Attorney role will be located in our Cincinnati area office and will report to the Vice President, Assistant General Counsel. The role will support a variety of commercial real estate transactions undertaken by Phillips Edison & Company including financings, acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures and various property-level matters.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
We are seeking a mid- to senior-level commercial real estate transactions attorney to draft and negotiate transactional documents. This position will be actively involved with providing legal advice to structure debt and equity transactions, and will work closely with our capital markets team in financings, lines of credit, acquisition loans, loan assumptions, and debt restructuring. It will also be a lead in purchase and sales agreements to acquire and dispose of retail assets, and advise property management regarding operations, including easements, management agreements, and reciprocal agreements. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated experience in transactional real estate, including finance and acquisitions, in progressively more responsible roles, an understanding of corporate law and compliance, and a demonstrated ability to work with, and manage, outside counsel.
Education / Experience Requirements:
Minimum of 7 years' experience practicing as a lawyer with an emphasis in commercial real estate law
In-house legal department experience required
Juris Doctorate from an excellent law school
Good standing in at least one state
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong problem-solving skills required
