CareHere is adding a new position of General Counsel and Vice President of Risk Management in response to the company’s double-digit annual growth. Reporting directly to the chief operating officer, this new addition to our executive team will be responsible for leading corporate strategic and tactical legal and risk management initiatives. The General Counsel and Vice President of Risk Management provides senior management with effective advice on company strategies and their implementation, advises on a broad range of federal and state regulatory and compliance matters, manages the legal and business risk functions, and oversees the work of outside counsel. The position is based in CareHere’s corporate headquarters in Nashville, Tennessee.
The ideal candidate for General Counsel and Vice President of Risk Management will possess the following qualities and qualifications:
Executive leader with strong, pragmatic business acumen and the ability to recognize the business consequences of legal advice
Strategic and innovative thinker who can develop and articulate a clear understanding of the organization’s strategy from all perspectives and find creative solutions to complex legal problems
Broad understanding of the evolving U.S. healthcare industry including, but not limited to, the Affordable Care Act (ACA), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA) and their impact on healthcare delivery
Significant healthcare industry experience, including the areas of healthcare regulatory and legal compliance; healthcare business operations and contracting; vendor/physician contracting; and complex business transactions, including joint ventures and financings
Experience in opening new healthcare facilities nationwide
Excellent understanding of major federal laws, applicable state laws and related regulations that govern corporate employment matters
Experience effectively developing and implementing strategy, in partnership with outside counsel as appropriate, to address complex litigation and regulatory inquiries
Articulate communicator with the ability to engage, educate and connect with individuals and audiences alike

Licensed attorney with outstanding academic credentials from a nationally recognized law school; Tennessee license preferred
At least 15 years of legal experience gained through a combination of major law firm and in-house experience as a general counsel or senior managing in-house counsel
Experience negotiating and drafting contracts, advising on regulatory and compliance issues, advising on employment matters, managing litigation, and advising business clients
