Overview: The Deputy General Counsel will provide legal advice and related support services to Memorial Healthcare System (MHS) on a wide variety of legal matters such as: contract drafting, review and negotiation; dispute resolution and litigation; legal compliance; developing and revising MHS’ policies; assisting with the implementation of MHS’ vision and strategic objectives; managing complex strategic transactions; recommending strategies and effective, efficient solutions; and serving as liaison for legal matters among executive leadership, management, outside legal counsel and other experts, and governmental/regulatory agencies.

Compensation: Competitive salary commensurate with experience; Florida does not impose a state income tax.
Experience: 7-10+ years of experience with healthcare law, as well as experience working for a government agency, strongly preferred; also preferred is significant experience drafting and negotiating contracts and prior involvement with complex transactional matters, experience interpreting and applying healthcare regulations and knowledge of the variety of legal issues affecting healthcare providers and government entities. In-house experience with a hospital or healthcare system, and familiarity with the legal requirements for a governmental, 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization, is ideal though law firm partners also will be considered. Florida Healthcare Certified candidates also are preferred.
Relos: Yes, though the successful candidate will be required to become a member of the Florida Bar. The Authorized House Counsel Rule (Florida Bar Rules Chapter 17) is not applicable to this position.
Bar: Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and Florida Bar membership in good standing.
