OVERVIEW: The Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) will be the face of Circle’s global compliance program. The CCO will build, operationalize, lead, and manage a robust compliance program and lead a team of dedicated compliance professionals; advise on all aspects of existing, new, and uncertain regulatory frameworks, rules, and responsibilities on a global basis; develop, audit, and monitor effective compliance tools and compliance systems; lead successful training programs and risk assessments; align compliance operations to Circle’s overall business strategy; and preserve and enhance Circle’s reputation for excellence and integrity. The CCO will be a seasoned, strategic, and effective business planning professional and leader with primary responsibility for developing, implementing, communicating, maintaining, and improving a strategic vision and plan for a strong compliance program consistent with the requirements of applicable financial regulations and organizations. These applicable financial regulations and organizations include state and national banking regulators who oversee the banking and payment systems, such as the U.S. Department of Treasury and major U.S. state banking supervisors, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), the UK Financial Services Authority (FSA), central banks in countries around the world, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), and equivalent global self-regulatory organizations (SRO’s).
The CCO will report to Co-Founder, Chairman and CEO Jeremy Allaire and Co-Founder and President Sean Neville.

EXPERIENCE: The CCO will have 15+ years of compliance experience at a regulated consumer fintech, consumer financial services, or consumer tech company in the financial services, payments, securities, or comparable industry. Experience interacting with federal, state, and global regulators and SRO’s. Experience developing, managing, and leading a team. Major law firm, in-house, and/or relevant government experience preferred.
COMPENSATION: Competitive base and bonus plus equity commensurate with experience.
LOCATION: The CCO will ideally work in Circle’s Boston offices (preferred), but this person could also potentially work in Circle’s New York offices.
