This position provides counsel to internal clients on legal matters within recognized area(s) of expertise and responsibility to preserve and protect the rights and interests of the company; drafts supply agreements; and manages outside counsel in claims and litigation as they arise.
Commercial Litigation/Product Performance (55%): Directs outside legal counsel during all phases of claims and commercial litigation relating to customer warranty disputes, vendor disputes, product performance and non-injury fire claims to protect CNH business interests; develops and guides strategy in conjunction with client business needs. Purchasing/Supply Chain (25%): Advises, counsels, and/or assists internal Purchasing clients in drafting and reviewing supply agreements for direct and indirect purchasing; promptly answers their legal questions, provides feedback and advice, and negotiates agreements as requested. Data Privacy and Protection (10%) : Manages and counsels non-legal personnel on data privacy, data protection and privacy policies and practices. Advises on and reviews IT, software, telecom agreements and supports internal Purchasing clients regarding same. Other (10%): Maintains depth of knowledge and awareness of government regulations (federal, state, local or provincial) and administrative environmental regulations and supports EH&S group to reduce business risk and ensure compliance within the limits prescribed by law. Remains informed and updated on environmental and other regulatory areas.
J.D. Degree and a current member of the appropriate State Bar
Minimum 4 years related experience in-house or in commercial litigation practice of major law firm with experience in supply chain (purchasing) and commercial practice OR 4 year experience working for a manufacturing client focused on supply chain and commercial practice, with proven ability to provide legal advice within the business context This is a good position for moving from law firm to first in-house role

Strong foundation of experience in areas of the law applicable to Company operations Focus, experience and emphasis in commercial litigation, product performance and supply contracts are essential. Experience in data privacy and security in practical application of same is beneficial Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to provide timely, practical answers to questions from business clients and inspire confidence and good judgment Extensive amount of independent thinking and clear strategic analysis is required Regular and consistent attendance and ability/willingness to respond to clients and counsel beyond regular business hours Team Player and self- sufficient Ability to travel 10% (domestic)
