This position entails providing legal advice on, active drafting and negotiating multiple academic collaborations and engagements including sponsored research contracts and multi-party consortia. Success in this position will require analyzing complex and global contract and intellectual property issues related to diverse technologies including software, hardware and services.
Primary contact for all legal matters related to research collaborations with third parties, including joint development of IP
Oversee legal negotiation of complex research transactions, including IP licensing, partnership agreements, gifting letters and other commercial and academic agreements related to Facebook’s various research efforts/teams
Influence and build cooperative relationships with executives, technical teams and peers across Facebook and its family of companies globally, to support the above
Collaborate with subject matter experts at Facebook to analyze and communicate legal risks and strategy to decision makers
JD degree with membership in at least one state bar
8+ years of legal experience
Experience with contract, patent and technology licensing models used for industry-academic collaborative research, domestically and internationally, including open source
Experience in drafting consortium arrangements and cross-border academic collaborations
