Kelly Services, Inc., a world leader in workforce management services and human resources solutions, is seeking a Corporate Counsel focused on Employment Law to be based at our HQ in Troy, MI. Primary responsibility is to provide legal advice and counsel and prepare and respond to various legal documents and claims to support the company’s strategic goals and interests with a focus on employment-related concerns.
45% - Employment and labor law advice and counsel to internal customers
10% - Litigation support to senior team members
10% - Review and revise internal policies and other internal documents
25% - Employment law projects and compliance initiatives
5% - Legislative initiatives
5% - Legal research
Give credible, accurate, clear and timely counsel to internal business partners on a variety of legal topics related to employment and labor law and commercial transactions.
Draft processes, policies, procedures and other significant employment-based legal documents.
Support senior counsel and independently lead management of projects, compliance initiatives, litigation and non-litigation matters.
Work closely with our business teams to accomplish company goals.
Responsible for analyzing proposed and established federal and state laws and regulations, preparing legal documents and reviewing company policies for compliance-related issues.
Advise management on legal matters and ensures compliance to protect company against legal liability.
Demonstrate an expertise regarding employment and labor law, and providing clarification on laws throughout the organization.
Advise on business and legal risks associated with various business strategies.
Maintain current knowledge of relevant legislation that may impact the organization and our business relationships.
Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
May lead and direct the work of others.
A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected to be applied to resolve legal issues and execute business strategies.
7-10 years’ employment and labor law experience, commercial law experience a plus.
Law firm experience preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Good organizational, prioritization and time management skills a must.
